FCA completes U-turn on ‘name and shame’ proposals

Regulator will move back to only naming firms under investigation in ‘exceptional circumstances’ following industry pressure

The Financial Conduct Authority has completed a U-turn on plans to reveal the names of more firms under investigation.

Bowing to pressure from government and industry, the watchdog will revert to its previous test of only publicising details in “exceptional circumstances”.
