Wirecard victims tell lawmakers to toughen payments rules for fintechs

Wirecard's freeze by the UK regulator upon its collapse triggered widescale interruption of services for local fintech firms who relied on it as a card issuer or payments processor

The rules governing the fintech sector are out date, British fintech chiefs hit by the collapse of Wirecard told a new parliamentary inquiry.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Challenger Banks and Building Societies, which is chaired by Karen Bradley MP, was told that payments rules cover too wide a spectrum of companies and that some fintech firms have outgrown them altogether.
