US regulator presses FSA for derivatives clampdown

The head of the main US derivatives watchdog has criticised his UK counterpart for trusting in participants to oversee markets rather than energetically pursuing and prosecuting wrongdoers.

Bart Chilton, a commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the UK's Financial Services Authority relies too heavily on the oversight of derivatives exchanges themselves.
