The UK's most senior politicians have approved the terms of a provisional Brexit deal with the European Union, Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday evening.

May, who was speaking after a five-hour “impassioned debate” with her government ministers about the implications of the 585-page draft agreement, said the text she agreed with her European counterparts on November 13 “was the best that could be negotiated”.
