The UK stumbles into largest recession on record as coronavirus crisis batters GDP

The UK has stumbled into the "largest recession on record", according to the Office For National Statistics.

UK gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have fallen by a record 20.4% in the second quarter (April to June) 2020.
