There was a hypothesis that was often repeated in the years after the financial crisis that if Lehman Brothers had been Lehman Sisters, run by prudent ladies, then the financial crash could have been averted.

When Lehman Brothers collapsed, Wall Street and the City of London was an industry run by men - mainly white men - in its boardrooms, trading floors and senior management.
