The Bard of Mansion House

Medieval customs are finally catching up with the international bankers of the City of London. Last week saw the launch of the new Guild of International Bankers at a slap-up dinner at the Lord Mayor's residence, the Mansion House.

Actuaries, airline pilots and even water conservators have their own livery companies but not bankers. Hence the new guild. If it demonstrates enough good works, it should eventually graduate to become a livery company.
