The new chair of the European Union’s top markets regulator is set to take up her post on 1 November, after months of uncertainty surrounding her appointment.

Verena Ross left the European Securities and Markets Authority in May after a decade as its executive director, but was then selected by European member states to return as the watchdog’s new chair in late September.
