The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed a letter in a federal court on 9 August, stating its intention to appeal a recent ruling involving its authority over Ripple’s cryptocurrency XRP.

The earlier 13 July ruling by US district judge Analisa Torres put boundaries around the extent to which it has authority to regulate specific sales of Ripple’s cryptocurrency, and also determined that Ripple did not violate federal securities law by selling XRP on public exchanges.
