Schroders opens wallet for C. Hoare & Co’s wealth business

The oldest independent private bank in Britain is selling some of its family silver to UK-listed asset manager Schroders.

C. Hoare & Co's owners, led by partner Alexander Hoare, have decided to sell their £2.2 billion wealth management business, due to rising costs relating to technology and regulation, according to Caitlin Thomas, head of marketing. She stressed the family would retain the private bank.
