Bonuses for top investment bankers at Santander declined by 8% on average last year as many of its rivals increased payouts.

Santander paid bonuses worth an average of €841,893 ($909,677) to 178 employees known as material risk takers within its investment banking unit, according to its annual report. These are senior staff whose actions could impact the risk profile of the bank.
