Ron Freeman, the 61-year-old Salomon veteran and current vice-chairman of Schroder Salomon Smith Barney, is set to retire at the end of this month.

Described as a high-profile ambassador for the firm, Freeman is ending a 25-year career, which started at Salomon Brothers in 1973, where he became a general partner in 1979.
