A flagship UK investment event last year that attracted global business titans including BlackRock boss Larry Fink and Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon cost the government more than £1m to host, Financial News can reveal.

The International Investment Summit, held in London on 14 October, was one of the Labour government’s first attempts to win over business leaders following its general election win three months earlier.
