Last week, the new pensions minister Ros Altmann announced the postponement of “pot follows member” – my idea for avoiding the creation of millions of small, stranded pension pots. I agree with her priorities, but the problem must still be tackled eventually.

In the last government, we proposed "pot follows member" as a solution to one of the chief problems that threatens the success of the ongoing auto-enrolment programme, which enrolls savers automatically into a workplace pension scheme.
