Patrick retires from Merrill Lynch

Thomas Patrick, executive vice chairman of Merrill Lynch, is retiring from the bank just months after being promoted to a wider role.

Stan O'Neal, chairman and chief executive officer of Merrill, made a number of changes to his senior management team just before taking over from David Komansky in December.
