Nomura, the Japanese investment bank, has raided Merrill Lynch for the second time and has hired seven equities derivatives staff. It comes as part of a recruitment drive in which rival banks have been tapped for a total of 24 people.

The move forms part of the bank's aim to build an equity derivatives franchise. It poached 13 staff from Merrill in July.
