News in brief: IP plans high yield bond

International Power, the UK independent energy group, is planning to issue $300m (€342m) to $500m of high yield bonds, chief operating officer David Crane has said.

Speaking at a conference in Portugal, Crane said that the company hopes to issue the bonds by September. But a company spokeswoman later said September is not an absolute deadline because IP has to finish refinancing loans in the US and UK markets before approaching the bonds market.
