The European Commission has taken the unusual step of asking its top markets regulator to review – and possibly tweak – new rules on bond trading on an annual basis.

The European Securities and Markets Authority has been asked to submit revised regulatory technical standards each year to determine whether or not a bond is liquid enough to be subject to enhanced disclosure rules under the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive - the EU's securities trading rulebook.
