Christopher Garman has been promoted to head of high-yield bond strategy at Merrill Lynch to replace Marti Fridson, who left the US bank earlier this month.

Garman, who was previously Fridson's number two in the strategy team, will be responsible for providing analysis of market performance and investment methodologies for high-yield portfolio management.
