Merrill catches Wave from Archipelago

Merrill Lynch is buying the institutional broking arm of Archipelago, the electronic market place being acquired by the New York Stock Exchange.

The sale of the subsidiary, called Wave Securities, was one of the conditions of Archipelago's acquisition of the Pacific Exchange in September of last year.
