Marsh puts 800 Putnam and Mercer jobs at risk

Marsh & McLennan, the insurance broker under scrutiny for civil fraud, is to start shedding about 800 jobs from its subsidiaries Putnam Investments and Mercer as it struggles to shake off allegations of bid-rigging and price fixing.

A spokesman for Marsh said 280 jobs would go from its risk and insurance business in the UK.
