US President Donald Trump has been banned from using his Facebook and Instagram accounts “indefinitely”, and at least for the next two weeks before his presidency ends.

Facebook’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said in a 7 January post that the riots by Trump’s supporters and invasion of the US Capitol building “clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden”.
