Local authorities embrace alternatives

Local authorities are continuing to diversify their portfolios into alternative assets classes. The Warwickshire local authority pension fund has made its first foray into hedge funds and property, while two other funds have appointed private equity managers.

Warwickshire, which has just under £1bn (€1.5bn) in assets under management, awarded Blackstone Alternative Asset Management a hedge fund of funds brief worth £50m.
