The chief executive of the London Metal Exchange has told Financial News the $12bn nickel crisis that engulfed the iconic venue in 2022 has enabled it to make vital changes, which traders had previously resisted.

Matthew Chamberlain told FN in an exclusive interview that the crisis had spurred the 147-year-old exchange to ditch some of its archaic rules to bring it in line with many of its peers.
