Claudio Ranieri’s sacking as boss of Leicester City should give pause for thought to underperforming investment managers. If their business was as cutthroat as football, most would be out of a job. And deservedly so.

Coming only nine months after Leicester beat the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea to claim the Premier League title, Ranieri’s dismissal seems remarkably brutal. The club’s fairy tale win was the football equivalent of Leicester Senior Citizens Investment Club beating Warren Buffett.
