Latvia's insurance inspectorate has awarded a licence to Unibanka, the country's largest bank, to start an open pensions fund.

Latvia now has three open and one closed fund, which is run by Lattelekom, the national telecommunications company, said a spokesperson at the insurance inspectorate, the regulatory supervisor in Riga.
