KPMG’s audits of Carillion before the construction company’s dramatic collapse in January 2018 are proving to be a millstone around the Big Four firm’s neck.

Chief executive Jon Holt warned staff in an email on 1 February that there was more bad news on the way after a “difficult start to the year for the firm reputationally” — and he was right.
