Institutional investment sales tumble

Sales of institutional products have shown a marked slump over the past year in the wake of stock market volatility, according to figures released on Tuesday by the UK's Investment Management Association (IMA).

Net institutional sales fell by 82% to £211.9m (€331m) last month, compared with July 2001. Gross sales of institutional products also fell year on year, down by almost a quarter to £1.7bn.
