Instinet, the electronic brokerage which is 63% owned by Reuters, the news and information firm, is to use one of it's parent's rivals, Caplin Systems, to carry its market data to clients worldwide.

The company has decided to use Caplin because its technology allows pages of data to be carried on the internet, which the existing Reuters systems that carry Instinet's data cannot do.
