Deutsche Bank’s £410m swoop on City broker Numis last year came with a clear ambition — to become the top UK investment bank.
It was already expanding its UK investment banking team to better compete in one of the most fiercely contested markets in the world. But taking over Numis tripled Deutsche’s City investment banking unit to 150 dealmakers and added 170 corporate clients at the stroke of a pen.
