Downing Street refuses to extend Brexit transition period – report

Kristalina Georgieva's comments come alongside yesterday's agreement on a timetable for remotely conducting Brexit talks

A spokesman for prime minister Boris Johnson has ruled out an extension of the UK’s transition period with Europe, due to end 31 December.

“We will not extend the transition period, and if the EU asks we will say no,” he said, at a press briefing today, according to a report in Business Insider. “Extending the transition period would simply prolong the negotiations, prolong business uncertainty, and delay the moment of control of our borders.”
