HSBC under pressure from global politicians to unfreeze ex-Hong Kong lawmaker’s accounts

Freezing the former lawmaker's accounts 'undermine the open societies and free economies that underpin HSBC's success', the letter says

A group of international lawmakers have written to HSBC’s chair Mark Tucker to object to it freezing the bank accounts of former Hong Kong legislator Ted Hui and his family.

The letter from the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China called on HSBC to unfreeze Hui and his family’s HSBC accounts, as well as “provide a formal explanation for the decisions to freeze and re-freeze the accounts”.
