HSBC CEO ‘comfortable’ City offices will house staff despite desk shortage

The UK lender will use multiple locations to accommodate UK employees as it prepares to move to a new HQ

HSBC’s chief executive said he is “comfortable” the bank will be able to accommodate staff in its UK offices, despite reports that it is facing a shortfall of desks as it prepares to move headquarters in the country.

Georges Elhedery said that around a quarter of the floors within HSBC’s UK headquarters in Canary Wharf have been “mothballed” as it has reduced headcount and changed the way its employees work.
