HSBC aims to restart dividend payments

UK lender joins rivals in pushing for a lift on the ban of dividend payments

HSBC said it was aiming to restart dividends as UK lenders lobby the Bank of England to lift the ban on such payments.

The UK lender said it will “seek to pay a conservative dividend if circumstances allow” in 2020 in its third-quarter results on 27 October, with the bank joining UK rivals in increasing pressure on regulators.
