Chancellor Rishi Sunak loosened the purse strings somewhat in what was billed as a post-Covid recovery Budget on 27 October.

To an extent, the City was included in his largesse; Sunak confirmed that the government would cut the surcharge on bank profits to lessen the impact of other tax rises in the sector as London seeks to remain a key global finance hub post-Brexit.
