Hedge funds prompt Kmart shake-up

A US bankruptcy court has approved Kmart Corporation's reorganisation plan and scheduled the retailer's emergence from chapter 11 protection after lobbying from two hedge fund groups, including ESL Investments, led by Edward Lampert.

Judge Susan Pierson Sonderby found that Kmart's plan met the necessary statutory requirements, addressing and resolving most of the objections to reorganisation filed by stakeholders.
