Hanneke Smits to step down as BNY’s global investments boss

One of the City’s most influential women is to retire after almost four years leading BNY’s $2tn investments business

Hanneke Smits, global head of BNY’s investments division, is stepping down after almost four years in the top job, making her the latest asset management leader to exit this year.

Smits, who has overseen the $2tn business since October 2020, is retiring from her role, according to a statement from the US-headquartered group.
