Greenspan reaffirms his faith in derivatives

The derivatives industry received a welcome vote of confidence from the Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan, this week, who credited the products with supporting the US banking sector by diversifying risk.

Speaking at the American Bankers Association's annual convention in New York, Greenspan stressed his confidence in the instruments' important role in risk management.
