The Frankfurt state court has started insolvency procedings against the long-established Gontard & Metallbank, the Frankfurt-based private bank, because of its indebtedness.

The court said it had called in administrators Friday. Despite this the bank has not yet given up hope of an investor rescuing the bank, though a spokesperson for Gontard conceded that the chances were not great.
