Ghost town Canary Wharf envisions future as retail hotspot to rival Hoxton

Move could mean new shops and entertainment venues as well as plans to develop the area's arts scene

The coronavirus crisis turned Canary Wharf into a ghost town overnight as thousands of finance workers were forced to stay away from the key London financial district.

Now the battered east London hub is reimagining its future as a retail “destination” after the pandemic prompted a near 97% drop in people visiting and working in the district.
