GDP jumped record 15% in the third quarter after easing of lockdown

The economy was helped by the Eat Out to Help Out scheme during the summer

The UK’s GDP increased a record 15.5% in the quarter ended September following the easing of lockdown measures over the summer.

This represents a recovery from the record contraction in the second quarter, but compared with the same quarter a year ago, the UK economy has shrunk 9.6%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
