Fund managers' cash crisis leaves equities out of reach

Historically low levels of capital held by fund managers are preventing them from taking advantage of undervalued equities, according to the latest fund manager survey by Merrill Lynch.

Among the global fund management companies who took part in the January survey, the average cash balance fell to a record low of 4.2%, from 4.4% in December.
