Fund CEOs predict private markets M&A boom will spill over into 2025

More asset managers are expected to make acquisitions to add muscle to their private markets capabilities

Asset managers have made a spate of acquisitions over the course of 2024, as fund groups look to bolster their capabilities in private markets. 

BlackRock kicked off 2024 with its $12.5bn blockbuster purchase of Global Infrastructure Partners, and followed up with two more private markets deals — Preqin in June and HPS in December — as part of a buying spree totalling almost $28bn.
