Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse has rehired its former head of European capital markets to run its asset management operations in Switzerland, taking charge of around €175bn ($227bn) in funds.

Peter Schmuki left the bank in 2003 to work as a senior adviser to a UK-based hedge fund, the bank said. He had previously been in a variety of positions in fixed income over a 20-year career at Credit Suisse.
