First day for UK exchange-traded funds

The UK's first exchange-traded fund - the iFTSE 100 - started trading today on the London Stock Exchange's new ExtraMARK index.

The LSE, in conjuction with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), created the market in March to trade in ETFs (see eFinancialnews, March 6).
