Financial storm delays Merchant Navy deal

The £3.2bn (€3.6bn) Merchant Navy Officers’ Pension Fund, one of the UK’s larger multi-employer schemes, has suffered delays to a planned insurance buyout deal.

Consultants warned such delays could become more common, hampering the efforts of specialist pensions insurers, including Paternoster and Pension Corporation, to quickly build scale.
