UK Treasury ministers met with banks and financial lobbyists on at least 135 separate occasions last year

In the week that outgoing Bank of England governor Mervyn King criticised banks’ lobbying of politicians in his final appearance before the UK Treasury Select Committee, Financial News can reveal the frequency with which UK Treasury ministers met with bankers and financial lobbyists last year.

FN analysis of public records shows that at least 135 separate meetings took place between politicians and banks from January 1 to December 31.
