The Financial Conduct Authority has warned algorithmic trading firms over compliance shortcomings as the regulator examines new capital requirements for the sector.

In a review of algorithmic trading controls at 10 specialist firms, the City watchdog found “significant variation in the sophistication of firms and their level of compliance”.
