The markets watchdog is trying to root out online accounts promoting investments unlawfully

Twenty social media personalities punting financial products online are being interviewed under caution by the Financial Conduct Authority as part of the watchdog’s crackdown on illegal promotions.

The regulator has also issued 38 warnings against social media accounts that are potentially flouting its rules, it said in a 22 October statement.
