Facebook’s head of crypto project steps down

David Marcus said he would step down at the end of the year to pursue entrepreneurial projects outside the company

David Marcus, a longtime Meta Platforms executive who worked on messaging and led the company’s heavily scrutinised cryptocurrency initiatives, announced his resignation from the company on 30 November.

Marcus said he would step down at the end of the year to pursue entrepreneurial projects outside the company. A former PayPal executive, Marcus joined the company in 2014 to run Facebook Messenger, leading the social-media giant’s efforts to expand its offerings into commerce and customer service.
